Street Trees protected in Canterbury

street trees on London Road, Canterbury

Well Done Kent County Council who have come up with plans to protect the beautiful plane trees on London Road in Canterbury. Unlike Sheffield City Council who have destroyed 5500 trees throughout the city, much to the anger of local residents, Kent Council are prepared to re-arrange the built environment, narrowing roads and widening footpaths to circumnavigate the trees which provide a green lung for the historic city.

It is such a pleasure to see a piece of planning which takes into account the environment that I have written to the council to commend them and I suggest you do the same. Send an e-mail to traffic.schemes@kent.gov.uk
